This project aims towards security and prevention of any undesired manipulation of sensitive public data(such as real estate property or shareholders of a company). The project uses Ethereum block-chain based distributed computing platform, which is an API for building decentralized(server-less) application on which data can be stored as well as computation can be performed. We coded up a smart contract(in Solidity, a language for block-chain apps) with javascript on the front end for users to enter data and into the block-chain and also perform transactions on the block-chain which get reflected in almost real time(after they get mined!) on the ropsten network.
This project aims towards security and prevention of any undesired manipulation of sensitive public data(such as real estate property or shareholders of a company). This is being achieved by putting such data on Blockchain to stop its manipulation, because it is almost impossible to change the blockchain.
Blockchain is the application of a technology in which a list of records, or blocks, are cryptographically linked to one another via timestamps and other attributes.
We have created a Proof-of-Concept for a fully distributed and decentralized application. It is a transaction based system where there is no central authority and the transaction is accepted through a consensus algorithm on a peer to peer network. Each node on the p2p has a copy of the ledger and each transaction is added onto the ledger if majority of the p2p network accepts the transaction through the consensus algorithm. For our application, we have targeted the fraudulent activities in the real-estate market. Through our PoC, the users can easily buy and sell their property without worrying about fraud and about paying the middlemen for a transaction that should not include anyone other than the sellers and the buyers.
Step1: Download MetaMasl from your web browser. (Example : chrome webstore).
Steps 2: Make 2 accounts and mine 4 Ethers in each account.
Step 3: Download/ Clone the git repository.
Step 4: Download Node JS. If it is already present, you may check it by command node -v.
Step 5: Run the following commands on the root directory of the project.
Npm install -g gulp
Bower install.
Bower install web3.
Gulp serve.
Step 6: Open your browser and type “localhost:9000” in the url bar. You will be able to see the application.
Step 7: Play with the functionality. (You may buy a new house or sell a house.)
