Server Management Script

Secrets and configs need to be added/modified as per your requirements.

Overview:

This server management script is designed to automate common server setup tasks, such as configuring web servers, managing file archives, cloning private Git repositories, and setting up virtual environments. It works on Ubuntu and CentOS systems, detecting the operating system and adjusting commands accordingly.

• System Information and Setup: Detects the system OS and configures package manager accordingly.

System Requirements:

• Linux OS: Ubuntu or CentOS (other systems are not supported).
• Dependencies:
  • curl, jq, zip, unzip, and git must be installed.
  • Docker (for server setups involving Docker containers).
• User Permissions: The script requires sudo privileges for certain operations (e.g., installing packages, managing services).
• Git Token: A valid GitHub token is required for cloning private repositories. Replace the placeholder (ghp_O2DHkRi) with your own token.

How to Use:

1. Run the Script:
   • After executing the script (sudo ./script_name.sh), the script will detect the OS and display the main menu.
2. Main Menu Options:
   • 1. Change Permissions: Change permissions for files in the specified directory (default: /var/www/html).
   • 2. Setup Server Environment: Installs essential server packages like Apache, Docker, PHP, etc., and configures the server.
   • 3. Setup Cockpit: Installs Cockpit for web-based server management. Access Cockpit at https://<server-ip>:9090.
   • 4. Setup Nginx: Installs and configures Nginx, replacing Apache if required.
   • 5. Add Cron Jobs: Adds predefined cron jobs to automate tasks (e.g., Docker updates, backups).
   • 6. Clone Private Repository: Clones a private Git repository using the provided GitHub token.
   • 7. Google Drive Operations: (Not implemented in the script but can be added for Google Drive operations).
   • 8. Setup Python Virtual Environment: Creates a Python virtual environment and installs necessary Python packages.
   • 9. Unzip File: Unzips a specified file, optionally with a password.
   • 10. Zip File/Directory: Zips a specified file or directory, optionally with a password.
   • 11. Setup Custom Command: Copies a custom shell script to the user's home directory and adds it to .bashrc.
   • 12. Setup PHP Apps: Installs PHP applications by copying files from a specified source directory.
   • 13. Exit: Exits the script.
3. Using the Menu:
   • After running the script, a prompt will appear to choose an action. Input a number between 1-13 and press Enter to execute the corresponding option.

Detailed Operation Descriptions:

1. Change Permissions:
   • This option allows you to set permissions for files and directories in the specified folder.
   • The script will list the items in the selected directory and allow you to choose one to modify.
2. Setup Server Environment:
   • This option installs and configures necessary server components like Apache/Nginx, Docker, PHP, and MySQL.
   • It also configures server permissions and clones a repository with server configurations.
3. Setup Cockpit:
   • Installs Cockpit for managing your server via a web interface.
   • This is useful for monitoring server performance, managing services, and configuring networks.
4. Setup Nginx:
   • Installs Nginx, disables Apache (if installed), and configures Nginx with SSL support.
5. Add Cron Jobs:
   • Adds automated cron jobs for tasks such as updating Docker or performing backups.
6. Private Git Cloner:
   • Clones private Git repositories using a GitHub token for authentication.
   • After cloning, files are placed in /var/www/html.
7. Setup Virtual Environment (Python):
   • Creates a Python virtual environment and installs specified packages like Flask and boto3.
8. File Compression (Zip and Unzip):
   • Zips and unzips files or directories. Password protection can be added for zip operations.
   • The unzip operation also supports password-protected zip files.
